Fedor Tyutin
NCDC Assistant Coach
Biography
Born in Izhevsk, Russia, Fedor's path to Columbus began when the New York Rangers selected him in the second round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. Before making the jump to North America, he spent time developing in the Russian Superleague with SKA Saint Petersburg and Ak Bars Kazan, as well as one standout season of major junior hockey with the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League — where he led Storm defensemen in scoring and earned spots on both the OHL and CHL All-Rookie Teams.
Fedor began his NHL career with the Rangers, going on to skate in 872 NHL games across stints with New York, the Columbus Blue Jackets, and the Colorado Avalanche. During his time with the Blue Jackets — the longest tenure of his professional career — he became a fixture on Columbus's blue line and a respected veteran presence in the locker room. On the international stage, Fedor represented Russia in three Olympic Games (2006, 2010, and 2014) and captured a gold medal at the 2008 IIHF World Championship.
Following his playing career, Fedor transitioned into hockey operations with the Columbus Blue Jackets organization before moving into coaching with the Ohio AAA Blue Jackets, where he served as an assistant to Mavericks NCDC Head Coach Kyle Althen. He brings that same partnership to the Mavericks' inaugural NCDC staff.
Fedor and his wife, Sarah, reside in Columbus with their three children.
