Another Mavericks veteran is on the move and has made his college plans official. Mavericks veteran forward, Kevin Uhlir, announced this week that he has committed to play ACHA Division 1 hockey for Niagara University, starting in the 2022-23 season.
The Lake Zurich, IL native came to the Mavericks from the Midwest Blackbirds as part of a mid-season trade and wasted little time making an impact on the ice. In just 21 games with the Mavericks, Uhlir tallied 6 goals and 8 assists. Combined with his time with the Blackbirds, he put up 20 goals and 17 assists for a season total of 37 points. This was Uhlir's third season in the USPHL, having spent time with the Chicago Cougars, Midwest Blackbirds, and Columbus Mavericks.
Mavericks Head Coach & GM, Nate Handrahan, is excited to move a player on to his alma mater; “We are excited for Kevin as he heads into the next stage of his career. Being a Niagara Alum, I'm happy that he has chosen to be a Purp! It is a great campus that left a positive mark on my life. He will continue to be the offensive player he was for us!”
Niagara University's campus is nestled just north of Niagara Falls along the U.S. - Canada border. As members of the NECHL conference, The Purple Eagles play out of Dwyer Arena, which they share with the school's NCAA Division 1 squad.
