HOCKEY OPERATIONS
The Columbus Mavericks ownership group announced on Wednesday that the U18 Thunderbirds squad has been officially acquired and will become a full-time member of the Mavericks' organization, effective immediately. The move means that the U18 team formerly known as the Thunderbirds will compete as the Mavericks beginning in the 2022-23 season this fall.
Furthermore, Mavericks USPHL Premier Assistant Coach, Joe Bogard, has been named as the U18 Head Coach for the team's flagship season. Mavericks Premier Head Coach and General Manager, Nate Handrahan, and Thunderbirds former coach, Tom Latvala, will act as the team's Assistant Coaches.
While the final schedule is expected to be released shortly, players can expect a 40-50 game season, featuring a combination of games in the NAPHL, USPHL, and a number of independent contests. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks!
