It has been a busy few weeks for Mavericks veterans on the move as a fourth member of the 2021-22 squad has made his college plans official. Mavericks Captain, Eric Podgorny, announced this week that he has committed to play ACHA Division 1 hockey for Lawrence Tech, starting in the 2022-23 season.

The Chicago, IL native joined the Mavericks last summer after spending the previous season with the Charlotte Rush where he helped the team capture a national championship. As a seasoned veteran with a passion for the game, scrappy attitude and no-nonsense toughness, Podgorny was a natural choice to lead the team as their Captain in the 2021-22 campaign. Throughout the season, he was an unwavering presence on the blue line, appearing in 44 games for the Mavericks.

Mavericks Head Coach & GM, Nate Handrahan, is looking forward to seeing Podgorny excel at the next level; “Im very happy for Pods. He was a great captain and vet for us, helping show our younger players the way. His fire and compete level make him who he is and Lawrence Tech will love him!”

The Lawrence Technological University campus resides in Southfield, Michigan, a northern suburb of Detroit. The Blue Devils compete at the ACHA division 1 level and are members of the WHAC.
