Mavs Top MHC, Fall to Metro Jets

The Mavericks faced a three-game, home-and-home series against two of the Metro Jets clubs this weekend and came out of endeavor 1-2. The weekend started on Thursday afternoon as the team traveled north to Fraser, MI to take on the first place Metro Jets. After a physical affair, the Mavericks would fall to the Jets by a score of 6-1. Danny Beebe scored the Mavs’ lone goal in the third period, assisted by Jordan Winrod. Tyler Dorion got the nod, stopping 31 of the 37 shots he faced in the matinee appearance. The Mavs returned home on Friday night for the second half of the home-and-home series against the Metro Jets. It was tough sledding for the Mavs on Friday as they would lose to the Metro Jets by a final score of 11-2. Tim Kramer netted his 8th goal of the season, assisted by Tyler Hall and Nik Jozefiak, while Mavs Captain, Deric Richison would add the team’s second goal, assisted by Keegan Hoover. Alex Toth got the start in net, stopping 10 of 15 shots in the first period, before being relieved by Tyler Dorion, who made 32 saves on 38 shots in the remaining two periods. The Mavs capped off the weekend on Saturday night with a matchup against the Metro Hockey Club (MHC). Looking to bounce back from two tough losses, the team came out firing and would win the night by a final score of 5-3. Clarence, NY native, Ethan Bishara earned the first star of the game, tallying a hat trick and an assist on the night. After MHC scored the first goal of the game, Bishara would answer back twice in the period, assisted by Tim Kramer and Danny Beebe on the first and Danny Beebe on the second. Bishara would open the scoring in the second period as well with an unassisted goal. Danny Beebe got on the score sheet again in the third period with a goal assisted by Ethan Bishara and Tim Kramer. Will Kididis rounded out the Mavs scoring with a late goal assisted by Hayden Ripley. Rookie net minder, Drew Donahue got his first start of the season and stopped 16 of 19 shots en route to the victory. The Mavs are back in action this weekend with a 3 game home-and-home series against inter-division rivals the Fort Wayne Comets. They face off in Fort Wayne’s Parkview Icehouse on Friday, followed by two home games at OhioHealth Chiller North on Saturday and Sunday.
