Mavericks Fall to USPHL Heavy Hitters

The Mavericks faced off against two of the best teams in the USPHL this weekend in a two-game homestead against the defending Great Lakes division champion Metro Jets on Friday and the division-leading Toledo Cherokee on Saturday. While the Mavericks fought hard, they lost 4-0 to the Metro Jets on Friday and 6-3 to the Cherokee on Saturday. The weekend was highlighted by strong performances in net by the Mavericks goaltenders. Hayden Hoover made 50 saves on 54 shots in his third start with the Mavericks against the Metro Jets on Friday. Jonathon Szekeres got his first start in net on Saturday against the Cherokee, making 51 saves on 57 shots. While the Mavericks were shut down offensively on Friday, they showed more offensive firepower on Saturday with Edmond, OK native, Isaac Jones, netting his second goal of the season. Dublin, OH native, Keegan Hoover notched his first and second goals of the season in the second and third period on Saturday. The Mavericks are on the road this weekend to take on the Lansing Wolves at the Summit Sports Complex on Friday and Saturday. You can catch all of the action on HockeyTV.
