Mavericks Face Off Against Cherokee in Inaugural Home Opener

The Columbus Mavericks will kick off their Inaugural Season with their Home Opener tonight against the Toledo Cherokee. The Cherokee, who are entering the 27th season in program history will make the trip down I-23 to start the beginning of what looks to be a fierce in-state rivalry. The Mavericks' inaugural season roster is made up of a cast of Central Ohio hockey talent, as well as a few transplants, including Strongsville, OH goalie, Luke Bell, and Edmond, OK forward, Isaac Jones. The Mavericks will be led by recently named Captain, #4 - Trevor Kraska, and Alternate Captains, #12 - Tristan Boytar and #19 - Deric Richison. Opening night festivities will include a number of announced and surprise additions, including a national anthem performance by the lead singer of the rock band Young Rising Sons, Andy Tongren. Pre-game festivities will begin at 7:00 PM with an estimated puck drop of 7:30 PM.
