Darryl Noren Hired to Lead Mavericks into Inaugural Season

Columbus Mavericks President, Joey Recktenwald, announced Tuesday that the team has hired Darryl Noren to lead them into their inaugural season as Head Coach and General Manager.
Noren, who is a member of the 2010 class of the ECHL Hall of Fame, is a native of White Lake, MI. Prior to joining the Mavericks, he coached at several levels of amateur and professional hockey, including stints in the ACHL, and most recently with the Olentangy Liberty High School hockey team.
Noren played professional hockey for 11 seasons in the AHL, ECHL, IHL, and CHL, spending the majority of his career as an offensive powerhouse for the Charlotte Checkers. He ranks third in ECHL history with 685 points, tied for third with 390 assists, eighth with 295 goals and 24th with 549 games. Prior to his professional career, he played Division 1 college hockey with the University of Illinois-Chicago and junior hockey with the Kitchener Rangers of the OHL and Rochester Mustangs of the USHL.
Away from the rink, Noren resides in Marysville, OH with his wife, Christie, and their three children.
