Age Out Feature: Jaxson Gillespie

Mavericks veteran forward, Jaxson Gillespie ages out of junior hockey after playing two seasons in the USPHL’s Great Lakes Conference. One of a number of local products, the center from nearby Hilliard, OH came to the Mavs after completing his high school hockey career with the Hilliard Wildcats.

Gillespie spent spent his entire two-year junior career with the Mavs, appearing in a total of 79 regular season and playoff games. As a consistent grinder, Jaxson had a physical presence on the ice and as a playmaker was able to point points on the scoreboard when needed. Over his junior career, he tallied 3 goals and 15 assists for 18 career points.

Looking to make the most of his junior hockey curtain call, Jaxson went out with a bang, notching a goal and two assists for a career-high 3 points in his final regular season game against the Cincinnati Jr. Cyclones on March 5th.

Next year, Jaxson will continue his hockey career at the ACHA Division 1 collegiate level with the Kent State Golden Flashes, where he will join his older brother, and fellow Mavs alum, Mitch Gillespie.

“[I’m] honored and grateful to be a part of such a great organization.” Gillespie said. “I want to thank my parents and coaches for getting me this far in my hockey career!”
