Vancura records hat trick as Mavericks top Metro 5–2 on the road

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. — Jan Sebastian Vancura delivered a statement performance Friday night, recording a hat trick to power the Columbus Mavericks to a 5–2 victory over the Metro Jets at Mount Clemens Ice Arena.

Behind Vancura’s three-goal effort and a steady 29-save performance from goaltender Elliott Hartwick, the Mavericks continued to build momentum in Great Lakes Division play.
Game Summary
Columbus struck first at the 10:55 mark of the opening period when Vancura found the back of the net off a feed from Jameson Motyka to give the Mavericks an early 1–0 lead.
Metro answered at 14:46 as Lucas Larson converted on a play assisted by Aidan Charron to even the game at 1–1. But Columbus reclaimed momentum late in the frame. With just 45 seconds remaining in the first period, Vancura struck again at 19:15, finishing a setup from Motyka and Zach Rathbun to send the Mavericks into the intermission with a 2–1 advantage.
The Mavericks extended their lead early in the second period. At 2:07, Tucker Kinnear Vancura capitalized on assists from Thomas Astley and TJ Boyd to make it 3–1. Columbus continued to apply pressure, and at 10:12 Ethan Alexander added to the lead, finishing a pass from Motyka to push the margin to 4–1.
Metro made one final push early in the third period. Luka Maj Pivec scored at 4:53 to cut the deficit to 4–2. However, Columbus quickly put the game out of reach. At 8:29, Vancura completed the hat trick, burying a feed from Ethan Zuvela and Alexander to restore the three-goal cushion and seal the 5–2 victory.

Elliott Hartwick turned aside 29 of 31 shots to earn the win, providing steady play throughout the night as Metro pressed to close the gap in the third period.
