Toth Commits to Kent State
ADVANCEMENT
As the Mavericks forge ahead into the new year, veteran goaltender, Alex Toth, becomes the first member of the 2021-22 roster to make his college hockey plans official. Toth has committed to play ACHA Division 1 hockey for Kent State University, starting in the 2022-23 season.
The Mentor, OH native is in his second year with the Mavericks and has put up some strong numbers on the stats line, improving from his first year with the team. In 8 games, Toth has tallied a 5-2-1-0 record with a 2.58 GAA and a 0.907 save percentage.
Head Coach & GM, Nate Handrahan, has been pleased with Alex’s progress in his second season with the team. “I’m so proud of Alex. To see a guy battle as hard as he has to get to this point is awesome. He is such a great kid and teammate which goes together with a great work ethic. I’m excited to see him continue his career at Kent State”.
Kent State University, located in Northeast Ohio, competes at the ACHA Division 1 level and are members of the CHMA conference. With their Kent, OH campus located just 46 miles south of Toth’s hometown, this will be a homecoming of sorts for the Mentor High School alum. As he starts his freshman season next fall, Toth will join fellow Maverick alum, Mitch Gillespie, who is currently a red shirt freshman with the Golden Flashes.
